Canadians for Tax Fairness (C4TF) is Canada’s leading voice for progressive taxation. C4TF provides data-driven research and analysis to advocate for fair and progressive tax policies aimed at building a clean and just economy, reducing inequalities, and funding quality public services. C4TF collaborates with a wide array of partners and allies in order to achieve its goals.

 

Summary

We are seeking an innovative and energetic fundraising coordinator to play a key role in implementing an organizational growth plan over the next three years. The position is being offered initially as a six month contract with an opportunity to become permanent thereafter.

 

Job Description

The Fundraising Coordinator will lead fundraising efforts with our individual donors, and work collaboratively with the staff team to raise funds from organizational donors and foundations. You will be in charge of expanding C4TF’s overall individual donor program with a focus on monthly giving.

You will be reporting to C4TF’s Executive Director and working alongside our Communications Coordinator and research team. Periodically, the Fundraising Coordinator will collaborate with board members and other advisors on a project basis. Our staff and board work closely together as a team, so that each member has input into the work we undertake and has the support they need to succeed in their role. 

This position will be working remotely and will need access to reliable phone and internet (we will provide a computer if you do not have one). Hours of work are somewhat flexible and the team touches base regularly by phone, email and zoom to foster collaboration and cohesion despite the physical distance.

 

Responsibilities: Individual Donor Program

  • Create and implement annual and quarterly individual donor fundraising strategies and workplans that include:
  1. lead generation and prospect acquisition
  2. direct mail and email campaigns
  3. themed giving programs 
  4. a monthly giving strategy
  • Oversee a major donor strategy, working closely with the Executive Director
  • Maintain consistent and timely relations with donors, including acknowledgement of their support, updating them on relevant work, and responding to inquiries.
  • Draft and implement fundraising appeals, working closely with the Communications Coordinator.
  • Stay up to date with new fundraising trends and techniques through webinars and articles

Responsibilities: Data Management

  • Maintain our civiCRM supporter database, keeping contacts up to date and regularly removing duplicates and faulty profiles.
  • Categorize and segregate our donor base to better target fundraising and communication efforts.
  • Track and provide monthly and quarterly reports on a range of fundraising statistics that evaluate program success and inform future activities. 
  • Assist in processing donations when necessary.

Responsibilities: Organizational Donors and Foundations

  • Collaborate with the staff team to identify and solicit donations from organizations and foundations that care about tax fairness and could reasonably be expected to support our work.
  • Assist with writing grant proposals and appeals to organizations and foundations.
  • Assist with developing presentations to organizations and foundations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or comparable professional certification.
  • At least three years of experience in fundraising and/or marketing in a non-profit environment.
  • Knowledge of individual donor fundraising, stewardship and marketing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, WordPress, Google Workspace and Customer Relations Management (CRM) software.
  • Detail oriented, with an ability to collect, input and analyze data and metrics related to fundraising operations.
  • Savvy with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Strong networking skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Self-initiating, flexible and able to succeed in a non-hierarchical, collaborative environment. 
  • Commitment to the goals of Canadians for Tax Fairness. 
  • Compassion, humour and patience! 
  • Fluency in English is essential. Fluency in French would be an asset. 
  • Graphic design capabilities are an asset.

 

Terms of Work: 

This is a full time position for a 6 month trial period, with possibility of being made permanent thereafter. C4TF is a virtual organization. Employees work from home and are compensated $100 per month for internet and phone use. The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience. The position comes with four weeks of vacation/leave with pay, and up to 10 days of sick leave annually, prorated. In addition, the office is closed for the week between Christmas and New Years and all statutory holidays,
