Activists in Newfoundland challenge premier on taxes

5 January 2013

Activists in Newfoundland got some good media coverage when they took on their premier's take on taxes. When Premier Dunderdale claimed that 16% of the people in Newfoundland pay 70% of the taxes during a recent television interview, activists took her on. They said her comments were misleading because she was not counting all the taxes such as sales and gasoline taxes which hit lower income people harder than income taxes.
