C4TF welcomes new executive director, Jared A. Walker, bids farewell to outgoing ED Katrina Miller

5 June 2025

Jared A. Walker

Canadians for Tax Fairness is pleased to announce the appointment of a new executive director, Jared A. Walker, and wishes a fond farewell to outgoing executive director, Katrina Miller.

Jared A. Walker brings over fifteen years of experience as a leader, bridge-builder, and storyteller in politics, advocacy, and media across Canada and the US.

Over the last decade, his focus has been working with progressive leaders, organizations, and movements across all levels of government to reach and mobilize an effective, diverse, winning coalition for the long haul. Jared knows in his bones that we find our power and purpose together, and his work emphasizes showing ordinary people they are seen, connected, and have the power to change an increasingly uncertain, isolating world.

Jared has worked extensively on progressive campaigns, policy, and projects fighting for economic justice, decent work, and affordable housing; strengthening and expanding the public services we all count on; bringing reform and increased accountability to our justice systems; advancing a real vision and collaborative commitment to Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples; building an equitable society without systemic racism, gender-based discrimination, and homophobia; and tackling the existential threat to humanity that is the climate crisis.

He is excited to work with C4TF’S small but mighty staff team, our Board, advisors, and partners to advance the fair tax fight at a critical moment for the movement in Canada and around the world.

Jared replaces Katrina Miller, who succeeded Toby Sanger as executive director of Canadians for Tax Fairness in January 2022.

Katrina joined C4TF with over twenty years of work at winning environmental and social justice improvements at every level of government and through collaborating with a wide array of labour, community, and academic experts on effective public policy. Under Katrina’s leadership, C4TF expanded its research and policy capacity during uncertain times with a stellar team, including Erika Beauchesne, DT Cochrane, Darren Shore, Muneeb Javaid, Erica Shiner, and Silas Xuereb.

Katrina will be greatly missed by C4TF’s board members and staff for her extensive political experience, policy acumen, and steadfast work ethic. Her media commentary established her as an important voice in the wider tax fairness movement in Canada and around the world, and her deep understanding of critical analysis guided C4TF to publish many groundbreaking, impactful reports under her leadership.
