Tax Havens: "Silent but Mammoth Revenue Killer"

15 March 2013

PostMedia Journalist Jason Fekete has pulled together a well-researched series on tax issues in Canada - illustrating the urgency of the situation and echoing many of the same arguments Canadians for Tax Fairness has been making for the past year.

C4TF is featured in the Tax Haven intallment.  Fekete's analysis:  The havens issue is a  "a silent, but mammoth, revenue killer that is emerging as a big problem for a federal government."

The piece also uses C4TF's calculations that havens are costing Canada at least $7.8 billion each year. Tax evasion, both at home and abroad, is stealing potentially tens of billions of dollars in revenue from federal coffers and ultimately sapping money out of the pockets of law-abiding Canadian taxpayers.  The Harper government is taking notice."

Indeed. Rumour has it the March 21 Federal Budget will include measures to attack the problem.  We will be watching closely.  You can read the story here
